Due to the promotion of our current Principal, the Governors of Wellacre Academy are looking to appoint an inspirational and forward-thinking leader who will build on our established success and continue to develop and nurture the potential of its staff and students.

Wellacre is an 11-16 all boys academy, set in the heart of Trafford and is a non-selective school, in a selective authority.

We aim to appoint a solutions-driven, proactive and highly influential and effective leader who is committed to whole school improvement and is excited to lead the school in its next phase of development, from Good to Outstanding.  This an exciting opportunity for an excellent leader with a passion for education and its continued improvement.

The successful candidate will have the vision, energy and personal qualities to lead the school into an exciting phase of achievement.  We encourage interest from leaders looking to work with an enthusiastic and supportive team of highly skilled professionals and our wonderful enthusiastic students.

Wellacre Academy is defined by its core values of respect, honesty, pride, aspiration and achievement.  Our mission is to equip each and every Wellacre student for the next stage in their life, ensuring they leave the academy inspired, fulfilled and confident.  The school places great emphasis on rigorous academic teaching, underpinned by a strong pastoral system which provides a caring, disciplined and structured environment in which to study and work.  The school’s motto is ‘Inspire, Achieve, and Enjoy’ and it is this philosophy that drives the school forward.  Our ambition is to unlock the potential of all students, remove the barriers to aspiration and ensure that all students succeed.

As a strategic leader, you will demonstrate a track record of achievement and have the talent and energy to inspire, motivate and develop those around you.  With exceptional interpersonal skills, you will be adept at communicating to a range of audiences.  You will be driven by your values, passion and determination to transform the lives of young people.

We believe we have a unique school that delivers good education in a sought after location supported by a committed whole school team of teachers, support staff, leaders and trustees.

What you will need to succeed:

  • A strong track record of leadership in a school context;
  • understanding in how to create a culture of aspiration and a supportive learning environment for all students that allows them to achieve their academic potential, regardless of prior attainment and socio-economic background;
  • to be a champion and visible ambassador for Wellacre within the wider community;
  • to have highly developed people skills and previous experience in leading teams effectively; and,
  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree qualification.

What you will get in return:

  • The opportunity to lead a school with a fantastic team of dedicated staff;
  • strong links with the local community;
  • a committed and established senior leadership team, with a focus on providing all staff with bespoke CPD;
  • the support of enthusiastic and multi-skilled governors;
  • a dedication to staff and student mental health and wellbeing, including a 24/7 employee assistance programme which provides counselling and support/advice on a wide array of areas.
