Lead Practitioner of Mathematics (LP Scale 3-6)

Required for January 2023

We wish to appoint a motivated, committed and enthusiastic Lead Practitioner in Mathematics to join our supportive team and make a significant difference to the students, through highly effective teaching, in a happy and thriving school.

Wellacre Academy is an 11-16 all boys school set in the heart of Trafford.  We have high expectations for all our students and our policies and practices are values driven.  Alongside our lessons, we provide a rich and diverse co-curricular programme that develops character and inspires our students.  We all work together to instil a strong sense of belonging for all, which enables students to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood.

Mathematics is a well-resourced department and is forward thinking in its curriculum and teaching approaches. The role involves working closely with the Director of Mathematics, developing current teaching practice, curriculum and assessment. Wider aspects of this role include coaching, mentoring and intervention. The department is represented on the ‘Sustaining Mastery NCETM Workgroup’ with the Turing NW Maths Hub.

The post offers a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative, proactive faculty with opportunities to develop as a leader and teacher. There will be opportunities to further develop curricular and co-curricular experiences.

We prioritise staff and student wellbeing and have realistic policies for feedback, data collection and homework. We recognise staff and student achievement and provide tailored CPD programmes which have been recognised in the Gold Award from the Teacher Development Trust.
