Investments and Improvements at Wellacre

An Environment in Which Students Thrive

Principal Mrs Sharrock is proud to report on the continuous investments and improvements at Wellacre to ensure a thriving school environment for the 2024/25 academic year and beyond. 

The work includes capital and facilities projects driven by school improvement strategies, Student Executive Council recommendations and secured external funding. 

In a boost to hospitality and catering education at Wellacre, we were delighted to secure a £20,000 grant from the Savoy Educational Trust to support the refurbishment and growth of the food and cookery provisions for September.  This investment was bolstered by school funds saved for significant projects. 

The development strategy for Wellacre’s ICT system has seen two substantial capital projects undertaken - a new CCTV system installation and new WiFi infrastructure. 

Wellacre has also responded to Student Executive Council recommendations by making another considerable investment in the repair of the outdoor gym equipment, resurfacing of the astro and new small football nets and balls, as well as new picnic benches, to enhance the students’ recreational space. 

We strive for inspiring learning spaces and the facilities team has been making  improvements over the summer by repainting Gym 1, refurbishing Science lab furniture, and laying new flooring and flagging across the school. 

Wellacre’s focus on sustainability has resulted in newly installed water fountains to reduce plastics in the canteen (another student voice initiative) and new EV Charging Stations in Wellacre’s car park for staff and visitors.
