Year 10: Work Experience

Last week, our Year 10 students spent a week at their work experience placement. Their experience was insightful and valuable as it allowed them to gain first hand experience in differing industries and to learn more about the working environment. 

Students secured a variety of placements in different sectors. For example, Harry B had a placement at Salford Royal Hospital where he worked on the Rehabilitation Ward for stroke patients. He said he gained excellent experience and spent time with the medical, nursing, physiotherapy and dietetics teams whilst on the ward. 

Sam B spent the week at St Mary’s C.E Primary School and received wonderful feedback from the Deputy Headteacher: ‘Sam has been exceptional. He has worked so hard this week, used his initiative and has been enthusiastic and respectful with both staff and pupils. What a credit to your school! Every member of staff has taken time out to come and tell me what an asset he has been in their classroom. They've even requested to have him more!’ 

Noah M did his placement at Salford City Council. He spent a full week with the team and had the opportunity to explore a variety of departments including: construction, civil engineering, quantity surveying, architecture, planning and development.

The experience gave him a real insight into how different parts of the Council operate and it has helped him to start thinking seriously about his future career. He is now particularly interested in the possibility of applying for an apprenticeship with the Council once he finishes school.

Another student, Harry B, did a placement at an opticians and was praised by the manager who said, “Harry is a lovely young man and has been a pleasure to have around. He helped out in the back sorting lenses into trays for glazing and polishing glasses ready for our patients to collect them.”

Zack and Ameer spent the week at Bright Futures with their Marketing and Finance Teams and left a really positive impression.
