NCS Bronze Award

We are delighted to inform you that Wellacre has been named a National Citizenship Service (NCS) Champion School for 2019 and has received the Bronze award.

The Bronze award recognises the significant number of Wellacre’s Class of 2019 students that signed up for NCS, to take part in social action projects and build skills for work and life.

NCS said:

“Congratulations on a well-earned award, and thank you for all your support over the last year.”

80,000 young people from hard-working schools across the country, including Wellacre, had an amazing summer in 2019.  Nationwide, students had a positive impact in their communities and developed skills that will help them in the future.

NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.

Miss Wicks, Principal, said:

“We were pleased to receive a certificate and plaque on behalf of the Class of 2019 students who registered for the NCS opportunity;  we already have a great number of Year 11s ready to sign up for the challenge this summer.”

Wellacre is working with the Education Engagement Team at NCS again this year and an assembly for Year 11 students has presented all the opportunities and benefits of taking part.  We hope to achieve Champion School Status once again in 2020!

Year 11 Jack, is keen to apply and said:

“NCS seems like a great opportunity, all the activities seem really interesting and I’m looking forward to learning independence on the residential.”

Fellow Year 11 Dylan added:

“I’ve always relied on my parents for everything and getting involved with the NCS will be a good opportunity to learn to do things for myself as I’m getting ready for college and life!”

National Citizen Service is a once in a lifetime part-residential experience, open to all 15 to 17 year olds, which takes place outside term time. The programme helps young people to build skills for work and life while taking on exciting challenges, making new friends and contributing to their community.
