Year 7’s Week of Fun

Wellacre’s Summer School proved popular with our new students once again, with 110 students attending in August for a headstart in settling into Wellacre life. 

The week-long programme is carefully co-ordinated to provide a full timetable of activities and sessions for students to meet new classmates and staff, and learn their way around the school site.

   

Team-building activities began with a meet and greet, a tour of the school grounds and an orienteering quiz so that students could familiarise themselves with the school grounds whilst getting to know each other.  

Trafford Thrive returned to Wellacre to deliver a September-ready wellbeing workshop and talk about the transition process and settling in to high school.

 

There were lots of sporting activities to encourage teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills such as football, curling and boccia. 

   

Perhaps the highlight of the week was the House competition with students winning house points in Hungry Hippos, 4-Man Skis and Wellacre’s Got Talent. Turing and Lowry were crowned joints winner at the end of the week!

     

“Summer School was a resounding success and has made a positive impact on our new Year 7s. 

“The Talent Show was our best yet! There were fantastic displays of musical talents, magic tricks and more, but a special shout-out to Charlie F who sang the Geography Song including every country in the whole world - what a skill!”
