Annual Christmas Celebration at St Johns Church

Wellacre’s annual Christmas Celebration filled St John’s Church with music, joy and community spirit on Monday 15th December, as our school choirs, students, families and friends gathered for a festive evening of song and reflection.

The service opened with a welcome from Mrs O’Neill, followed by the choir’s beautiful rendition of Once in Royal David’s City. The programme continued with a selection of much‑loved carols including O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Feliz Navidad and John Lennon’s Happy Christmas (War Is Over), inviting the whole congregation to join in.

A number of students took to the stage to showcase their exceptional musical talents. Performances included Ave Maria and Restless by Liam K on piano, a guitar ensemble of Yellow performed by Toby, Hewie and Henry, and a stunning vocal duet of Walking in the Air by Albie B and Albie G.

Readings were delivered with confidence and clarity by Sam B, Matthew H, Mason R, Zackary A and Joshua M.

We extend our thanks to Rev Rodney Green for sharing a thoughtful Christmas message, to Mrs Quigley and Mrs O’Neill for organising the event, and to Mrs Cheung and Mr Sharrock for their musical support throughout the evening.

The celebration concluded with festive refreshments in the church hall, where families, staff and students enjoyed hot drinks and mince pies together.

The concert was repeated for our Year 7 students on Wednesday 17th December, an annual tradition that welcomes the newest members of our school community into the spirit of Wellacre’s Christmas celebrations.
