£100 raised for Dogs Trust with Think Inks

We’re proud to share news of Year 10 Owen’s continued fundraising success for the Dogs Trust.

In March, Owen partnered with Think Inks, a company which works with schools, churches, charities and other organisations to help generate funds through the recycling of used printer inkjet cartridges.

Staff, students and parents were asked to bring their empty ink cartridges from home, which Owen collected in a recycling box in reception.

Think Inks contacted Owen recently to share the good news about his collection box.  In total there were 75 inks in the box. 67 of these can be reused, the remaining 8 will be crushed down to raw material and used elsewhere.

With the support of the school community, Owen successfully raised £90 and helped reduce plastic waste!

Ashley O’Connor, from Think Inks, contacted Owen to say:

“You should be really proud of yourself for your effort. Not only have you raised £90 for Manchester Dogs Trust but you’ve also prevented almost 3kg of plastic from going to landfill and potentially ending up in our oceans.

“Very well done! For your hard work, we’re going to top up what you’ve raised to £100!”

Owen will continue to collect used ink cartridges, please recycle to help him raise even more funds. If you can help Owen raise even more funds, please drop off your used ink cartridges to the main school reception during term time.

It is estimated around 45 million inkjet cartridges are used in the UK alone each year, with less than 5% being recycled! Sadly those that are not recycled end up in landfill and our oceans. Think Inks are working to put a stop to this and provide a solution, which will have a positive impact on the world we live in.
