Mrs Julie Sharrock returns as Wellacre's new Principal

Wellacre are proud to welcome the return of Mrs Julie Sharrock as our new Principal.

Following a rigorous and intensive selection process early last term, Mrs Sharrock was appointed with the overwhelming support of the school governors and selection panel.

Many of you will already know that up until January 2020, Mrs Sharrock had been a part of Wellacre life for 20 years, as Head of Humanities and, for the last seven years, as a Vice Principal. She left to extend her senior leadership experience and moved to Co-op Academy Walkden as the Vice Principal.

Whilst there, she led on ‘Quality of Education’ and implemented changes to many school systems and procedures which will continue to support the school. But she didn’t expect her time at Walkden to be so short! When the opportunity at Wellacre arose, she felt compelled to apply.

Mrs Sharrock commented:

"It is with a tremendous sense of pride and excitement that I have been appointed Principal of Wellacre Academy. I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead this fantastic school and I have been reacquainting myself with the students, staff, governors, families and the local community.

"I have lived in Trafford all my life and remain dedicated to improving education in my local area. Wellacre is undoubtedly a very special place; it has character, a history and has immense possibilities for the future. I have real emotional investment in this great school and its wider community.

"I know Wellacre, I share its vision and values; in fact, I helped to create them! I will be ensuring all our students and staff look to our vision of Aspire – Achieve – Enjoy to inspire them to give their absolute best for Wellacre. Our school has many outstanding strengths, and I am absolutely committed to continuing to move this school forward so that the students who come here get the best opportunities to fulfil their potential."

Students who will be joining Wellacre this September will be able to join in a number of transition activities and events to get to know their new school in the coming weeks. And we hope to be able to welcome prospective students and parents at an on-site Open Evening this September.
