Biometric Finger Image

We collect students' finger images for the sole purpose of the cashless catering system. We obtain written consent for this on admission application forms when students join Wellare. Parent, carers and students are at liberty to withdraw this consent at any time. An alternative method of payment will be given such as a payment card.
The information we record, process and store for the cashless catering system includes the student photograph, finger image, name and form. It is stored securely. We do not share this information with third parties. All records are deleted when a student leaves the academy.
Biometric information is information about a person's physical or behavioural characteristics that can be used to identify them. This information is used as part of an automated biometric recognition system. The system takes measurements of a student's finger image and converts it into a template which is stored on the system. A finger print is NOT stored. The template (i.e. measurements) is what will be used for students' catering accounts to be accessed.
You should note that the law places specific requirements on schools and colleges when using personal information such as biometrics, For further information, please click here.
