Year 7 Students Show Kindness and Support

We were incredibly proud to hear of Wellacre students working together to assist a local resident in need last week.

As students made their way home across Irlam Locks, a group spotted a car that had come off the road nearby.

Displaying Wellacre's values, as well as kindness and maturity, the group helped the elderly driver by staying with her and making sure she was ok until help arrived and her car was pulled from the ditch. The lady was unhurt but shaken.

Jack, Year 7, said:

“I think the lady had hit a rock and gone off the road. We called for help and waited with her.  We kept talking to her and asking her if she was ok.”

The group of Year 7 students included Noah, Alfie, Cody, George, Isaac, Jack and Charlie, but there were others around who provided their support.  Year 8 students Benjamin, Alex and Cian all stepped in to remove rocks from around the car's wheels before workman arrived to move the car from the ditch.

Proud Wellacre parent Mrs Mullen said:

“I am incredibly proud! They didn’t panic, just offered a friendly face and kind words. I’m not only emailing to say how incredibly proud I am of them all, but also to say thank you to you as you have a small part to play in this with the teaching of respectful, honest and humble attitudes and behaviours not just in their school time but beyond that. So once again, thank you very much.”

Mrs Sharrock, Wellacre’s Principal, added:

“These students demonstrated the kindness and consideration we value so much at school.  They provided comfort and reassurance to an elderly lady in distress.  We are really proud of them.  Well done boys for your community spirit.”
