Our new cohort of Prefects were put through their paces at a special training session with the RAF on 13th June.

44 Year 10 students joined RAF officers for training exercises designed to improve their team building, leadership and communication skills.

Year 10 Oliver said:

“I really enjoyed the day and feel that this experience has enhanced my leadership skills. I now feel more confident in my role as a Prefect, and this will allow me to successfully support the students, teachers and wider school.”

Throughout the sessions, students participated in a range of fun and physical activities requiring teamwork or partnerships, learning to rely on each other to succeed in the challenges.

Year 10 Matthew added:

“The training taught me that I needed other people to help me complete the tasks I would have struggled to do by myself.  I learnt that to be successful in our role as Prefects, the team will need to lean on each other and communicate.”

Mr Duffy, Teacher of PE and Learning Director for Year 11, said:

“The training today will be invaluable in supporting these students in their new role as prefects.  Our aim through Student Leadership is to raise the aspirations and confidence of students and provide them with transferable skills that will help them in their future education and employment.”
