Recognising and Rewarding Achievement

Celebrating Students at Wellacre

On 11th July, Wellacre welcomed parents, carers and staff for one of the most special events of the Wellacre calendar - Rewards and Recognition Evening.

The event is held in recognition of the young people who have been acknowledged by staff for their notable achievements and the significant contribution they make to the life of Wellacre’s thriving school community. 

On stage, Mrs Sharrock, Principal, was joined by Mr Pemberton, Vice Principal, Mr Linton, Leader of PE and Heads of Houses.

Wellacre students were nominated for a wide range of awards that recognised academic, sporting, House contributions, leadership and co-curricular achievement. 

Special awards were also given to those who have made significant contributions to the Wellacre community:

Turing Outstanding Contribution: Calvin H, Yr 10

Pankhurst Outstanding Contribution: Elliot J, Yr 10

Lowry Outstanding Contribution: Theo W, Yr 10

Sports Leader of the Year - Noah M, Yr 9: Noah is a commendable Sport Leader, helping to deliver primary festivals for primary schools across Trafford. He has great communication skills and enthusiasm, and is a valued member of the team. 

Team of the Year Award - Yr 7 Rugby Team:  A great team of sportspeople who went on to win the Salford/Trafford Schools Rugby League title. They showed incredible teamwork, camaraderie and resilience to make the final and win!

CCF Award - Bradley S, Yr 10:  Bradley consistently upholds the values of the CCF and the school by showing  commitment to the improvement of the CCF. His commitment and integrity of character is shown in his leadership and loyalty to everything he does. 

Charlotte Sant Award - Jake H, Yr 7: This award was given to Jake for exceptional determination, courage and resilience. Despite having an ongoing injury Jake managed to represent the school in multiple sports - always giving 100%.

Sportsperson of the Year - Amari F, Yr 9: Amari has shown great ability in many sports including football, rugby, cross country and athletics. He is a Sports Leader, not only has he has used these skills to deliver primary events, but also is an outstanding leader on the pitch.  

The Sue Moscow Award (Sponsored by Intergen) - Dantae G, Yr 7:  Dante is an excellent Ambassador at De Brook Lodge, always makes exemplary efforts and upholds the Wellacre core values. At school, we are really proud of him. 

Governor’s Award - Corey S, Yr 7 and Coby S, Yr 9: Brothers Cory and Coby have made a wonderful contribution to community events such as supporting the Cyril Flint Appeal and bringing Christmas cheer to the group's party.  Cory has made great progress through reading intervention and Coby gives 100% in lessons and epitomises our school values. 

Principal’s Award - Noah G, Yr 9: Noah is a commendable Wellacre student who excels in sport both in school as a Sport Leader, and outside school in cricket, karate and golf - he qualified to play in the 9 Hole Challenge at Royal Troon, prior to The Open. He also is involved in charitable events at school and displays amazing comedy timing in our school productions! 

Mrs Sharrock, Principal, said:

“Well done once again to all the boys who have received awards. It is testament to the student population more widely that the nomination of award winners is increasingly tough; there are so many boys worthy of such recognition. 

“Our values, as a school, matter to us and I hope all the student winners know how proud we are of them for everything they have achieved and for what they will go on to do.”
