Wellacre Attends Ministry of Defence Ceremony

Wellacre was delighted to attend the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Awards 2023 for the North West of England and Isle of Man, held at Gorton Monastery on 14th November.

Wellacre was presented with our Silver Award by the Lord-Lieutenants of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.  As one of the Defence winners, we have demonstrated a considered commitment to the Armed Forces community and are ensuring that the men and women who serve and have served our nation are treated fairly. 

The Defence ERS said:

“Defence thanks you for your exceptional support. You have raised the bar for support from employers to the Armed Forces Community, and can be rightfully proud of this award.” 

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) recognises employers who support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme receives nominations from private and public sector organisations across the country, with participation rising rapidly since the awards were launched in 2014. 

Lt. Baker said:

“It was an honour to be part of this event, especially as the only school amongst so many other organisations. It makes me proud to be part of a school community which values the Armed Services so highly.”

Mrs Sharrock commented: 

“The growth of the CCF at Wellacre is reflective of the ambition and commitment of Lt Baker and SSI Ward in their leadership roles. It is wonderful that this has been recognised by the ERS. Our cadets are benefiting from their experiences and the opportunities their membership offers.”
