Christmas Cards from Around the World

MFL Christmas Competition

The Modern Foreign Languages department is delighted to share the winners of Wellacre’s annual Christmas Card competition!

The KS3 festive competition invited students in Years 7 to 9, to design a Christmas card depicting the Christmas traditions of France or any other country of interest.

Miss Bailey and Mrs Horridge asked students to research and design their card using a variety of materials, from paint to fabric, and that all entries were submitted in French or the language of the country featured.

The brief required originality in the Christmas card design as well as accuracy of language and content. The designs celebrated the traditions and languages of countries including Italy, Greece, Egypt, Germany and Spain.  

Categories for winners recognised creativity, cultural interest and research in students’ designs.

Miss Bailey, Leader of MFL, said:

“Yet again, the standard for the competition was extremely high and the announcement of the winners was hotly anticipated! It was really hard to judge all the entries!

“It is fantastic to see students enjoying the opportunity to learn about Christmas traditions in countries all over the world.”
