Jack is the Gilsland Sprint Champion

Elite Athletic Camp for Wellacre Student

Jack, in Year 11 at Wellacre, has recently attended an Elite Athletics Training Camp in the Lake District. He was encouraged to attend the two-night residential camp by his current squad, Trafford Athletics Club. 

Jack has been a member of the Trafford Athletics Club for twelve months, and this has been his first opportunity to attend the camp. 

The annual event provides sessions for athletes in circuit training and hill running, and culminates in a 500m uphill sprint race called the ‘Gilsland Sprint.’

Jack excelled in the event and successfully won the race; of this event and his love of the sport, he said:

“I like running, and I like running fast!"

He added:

“My usual event is 100m and now the season is starting up again, I’m looking forward to more events and competitions!”

Principal Mrs Sharrock said:

“This is a fantastic achievement Jack! I have seen Jack running at Sports Day and he is, indeed, very quick! Good luck for the new season.”
