Maths Masterclass at Salford University

On 27th March 2018, a group of Year 10 Maths students attended a Maths Masterclass at Salford University.

The Maths event introduced some interesting new aspects and applications of Maths, which are not usually covered in the school curriculum.

There were fascinating presentations on topics such as statistics and topology.

Mr Sharrock, Assistant Leader of Maths, said:

“Our students experienced an entirely new concept of what Maths can be about. Who would have thought a rectangle has only two sides? And our students were also surprised to find out how much Maths can be found in juggling!”

Well done to all our students who participated, and a special mention to Anton Anderson’s team who won the ‘Maths Dragon Quiz’ to finish off the day!
