Celebrating Student Achievement

On 14th July, Wellacre welcomed parents, carers, and staff to the Rewards and Recognition Evening, in celebration of the significant achievements of students.

On stage, Mrs Sharrock, Principal, was delighted to be joined by Mr Pemberton, Vice Principal, Mr Linton, Leader of PE, Head of Houses, and Chris Hinchcliffe, Community Governor for Wellacre, and Pauline Castledine, Chair for Intergen Trafford.

Wellacre students were nominated for a wide range of awards that recognised academic, sporting, House contribution, leadership and co-curricular achievement. 

Special awards were also given to those who made significant contributions to Wellacre:

Turing Outstanding Contribution: Calvin, Year 8  

Pankhurst Outstanding Contribution: Billy, Year 8

Sports Leader of the Year - Lex Year 8 (and Head of House) Lex has been an outstanding Sports Leader throughout the year, helping to coordinate many events for primary children.  This included the Commonwealth Roadshow, where he confidently led and encouraged local school children to take part in a range of sporting activities.  

Sportsperson of the Year: Edward, Year 7 Edward is an all round excellent sportsperson and fantastic member of Wellacre sports teams. He supported his team mates whilst recovering from injury, then came back even stronger to help secure sporting wins.

The Sue Moscow Award (Sponsored by Intergen): Oliver, Year 8  For working hard, demonstrating Wellacre’s core values and for going above and beyond to help a new student settle into his form.

Governor’s Award: Jayden, Year 8  Described as a model student, Jayden is hard working, humble, resilient and well respected by his peers.  Most recently, he graduated from The Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme and addressed the audience about his learning experience. He exemplifies Wellacre values every day.

Principal’s Award - George, Year 10: George has embraced every opportunity that Wellacre has offered him. He is an excellent House Captain and spokesperson, a fantastic Computing and Literacy Ambassador , and most recently, he has excelled in his work experience.  We were delighted when he was appointed Head Boy for 2022/23.

Mrs Sharrock, Principal, said:

“Wellacre is a special school community and these students are representative of hundreds who enrich the experiences of us all on a daily basis.  I could not feel more proud and privileged to be the Principal of this wonderful school.”

The year 2021-22 at Wellacre has been a very special one and a huge number of students have made their mark in this school’s rich history. 

Mrs Sharrock added:

“I hope all the students will go on and strive to be the best versions of themselves and continue to be a credit to themselves, their families, community and Wellacre.”
