Miss Bailey, Leader of MFL, said:

“The Spanish Exchange Programme is a great learning adventure for students.  It is an opportunity for our students to build a friendship with a foreign student, build on their knowledge about Spanish culture and improve their language skills.”

On the 25th June, students welcomed Juan, Fernando, Alejandro, Diego and Carlos from various schools in and around Madrid.

For three weeks, these Spanish students have buddied up with a Wellacre student and have stayed with their families.

Students Daniel B and Callum, Year 7, Daniel C and Dylon, Year 8, and Alex, Year 9, have invited their Spanish exchange partners to learn more about British school life by joining them in all their lessons at school as well as showing them more about Manchester culture with various trips and visits.

“I took part in this experience because I wanted to meet more people, improve my English and see what school is like in England We’ve explored the sites, eaten out. I’m looking forward to the Manchester United tour and ice-skating!”

His exchange partner, Callum, said:

“It’s been a different experience for me and good to meet someone new; I’m hoping to learn more Spanish!”
