Make a Noise about Bullying

Anti-Bullying Week 2023

During Anti-bullying Week, Wellacre supported the theme ‘Make a Noise about Bullying’ with a range of activities and communications with the aim of empowering students and staff to do something positive to bring an end to bullying in society and show support to each other. 

Odd Socks Day kicked off the week with everyone invited to wear odd socks to help us celebrate what makes us all different and unique!

We launched the Anti-Bullying Week competition and challenged students to create a football shirt or poster to highlight the theme of anti-bullying in order to win a place in a FIFA Tournament against Mr Dougherty, Inclusion Assistant. 

The standard and volume of entries were so high that we named eight, instead of the planned five, winners: James C, Mason R, Rory F, Ethan C, and Dylan C, Year 7, Jacob W and Abhay K, Year 8, and Zach T, Year 9.  

Well done to Rory F who beat Mr Dougherty and was crowned the overall champion in the FIFA tournament!

  

The designs and posters will be displayed in Tutor Rooms alongside the newly signed Anti-Bullying Charter to promote the safe and inclusive environment we foster at Wellacre.

The recruitment of Wellacre Buddies also took place, with Year 7-10 students invited to apply for the role to become Peer Mentors, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Wellbeing Ambassadors.  All successful students will take part in an online training session in December from the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

“At Wellacre, we strive to promote a positive and supportive atmosphere, and ultimately, maintaining a safe space for students. Anti-bullying Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness that everyone has the right to feel safe, happy and respected, and signpost all the support on offer.”
