WELLACRE celebrates WORLD BOOK DAY with a BIG BOOK SALE

World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading.

Currently one child in seven in the UK has no books of their own.

WELLACRE students decided to celebrate World Book Day by supporting the National Literacy Trust, a National charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged children by working to raise literacy levels in the UK.

Our students worked with our Librarian to organise a BIG BOOK SALE.

Asking family and friends to donate their unwanted books to sell for 50p and £1 on World Book Day.

They held the sale in our main school reception area during Break and Lunch time, using posters, stickers and word of mouth to promote the event.

Thanks to their hard work the Big Book Sale was a great success, enthusiastically supported by fellow readers, with one student buying an impressive 9 books!

Our BIG Book Sale raised -

Thursday - £35

Friday - tba

WELLACRE would like to thank; Mandi Sissons our Librarian and George Sissons one of our Deputy Head Boys for their support and dedication to help make our Big Book Sale and World Book Day a fantastic event.

“We are immensely proud of the efforts of our students, both during World Book Day and indeed throughout the year. The success of the Accelerated Reader programme and the continued popularity of the school's well stocked library highlight the efforts of both teacher and students in ensuring that our students are well prepared for the demands of the modern world. The recent Good School's Guide Award is the culmination of these efforts.”
