Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
Wellacre's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Naval Unit launched in January 2019 as part of the school’s Co-Curricular programme.
The tradition of cadet units in schools dates back over 150 years; in 1948, the CCF was formed, covering cadets from all three military services.
Wellacre’s Naval unit promotes a military ethos in order to instil values in young people that will help them to reach their full potential and to contribute to their communities and their schools.
The cadet unit provides students in Years 8 - 11 a transformative opportunity to develop and achieve, through challenging, active, adventurous and fun activities. Every student who is part of the CCF receives a cadet uniform free of charge.
Through the Royal Navy Cadet training programme, students at Wellacre will be able to undertake assessments to progress through the ranks from Able Cadet to Chief Petty Officer. They can also achieve learning qualifications in the higher ranks by taking on more responsibilities and leadership opportunities.
The activities cadets take part in with the CCF focus on helping students gain new skills, improve teamwork, confidence and leadership, as well as develop qualities such as self-discipline, resilience, loyalty and respect.
From learning to sail to representing Wellacre, joining the CCF provides students with so many opportunities to challenge themselves, develop their skills, and work as part of a team.
