Careers in the RESPECT Curriculum

At Wellacre Academy, careers education prepares students for the opportunities and responsibilities of further education, training, and employment. Through our partnership with the Connexions Careers Service, students receive impartial, independent, and informed guidance tailored to their individual aspirations.
All students in Years 10–11 have a focused careers interview with Connexions, including an action plan to support their next steps. Parents and carers are welcome to attend these meetings. With consent, information is shared to enable further guidance, and each student's guidance report and recommended next steps are added to their individual Unifrog account to ensure personalised support and clear pathways for progression to meet the aspirations of our students.

Careers education is embedded within the Personal Development Curriculum (RESPECT). The curriculum aligns with national frameworks for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and integrates wider PSHE themes, including relationships and living in the wider world.

At KS3, all students have the opportunity to experience a workplace environment whilst all Year 10 students have a week long Work Experience. 

In addition, students are inspired by The Scholars' Programme, university visits, outside speakers, industry links, alumni visits and input from local employers and colleges.
