Shrek: The Musical JR Production

Spring Term 1 ended on a high with our production of Shrek: The Musical JR on the 11th and 12th February 2025. Students and staff worked incredibly hard to pull together a show  which was widely enjoyed by family and friends. We also invited  local primary school children from St. Monica’s, Flixton and Acre Hall who sang along to the musical elements at the opening matinee show. 

 

Mrs Tickle, Teacher of Performing Arts, Miss Quigley, Teacher of Music and Mrs O’Neill, Assistant Principal managed the production together from the show's infancy all the way through to the final performance. Other staff members also kindly provided their assistance during both show nights. It was a real team effort! 

 

Audiences were engaged by the fortunes of an ogre named Shrek (Billy, Year 11) who resided in a far, far away swamp. His precious solitude was suddenly shattered by an invasion of rambunctious fairytale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (Noah, Year 10). Determined to save their home, not to mention his, Shrek cuts a deal with Lord Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (George, Year 10) to be Lord Farquaad’s bride. However, rescuing the princess may be a small feat in comparison to her deep, dark secret.

We would also like to thank Manchester Musical Youth for the loan of costumes, set and props which further elevated our performance!
