Year 11 Food and Cookery students were treated to a delicious afternoon tea at Trafford College recently.

However, it wasn’t all about the cream cakes and iced buns, the students were there for research purposes for their Level 2 Food and Cookery qualification.

Accompanied by Teacher of Food Technology, Miss Jones, the students were invited to visit and experience an afternoon  tea at Aspire Restaurant, Trafford College. The students had the privilege of meeting some of the Professional Cookery team,  as well as taking a tour of the teaching kitchens and catering facilities.

Unit 4 of the Level 2 Food and Cookery course requires students to plan and produce dishes in response to a brief; as part of the visit to the Aspire Restaurant, students were gathering ideas, reviewing the menu and considering the preparation process in the kitchen.

Miss Jones said:

“The afternoon was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience the quality of the hospitality courses at Trafford College, meet with lecturers who have vast expertise of running restaurants and working in kitchens, as well as see college students working to produce outstanding food.  Everyone enjoyed tasting all the fantastic cakes and pastries too; a great time was had by all.”
