Celebrating Christmas

Christmas Concert at St. John’s Church 

On 16th December, Wellacre brought together students, staff and families for our annual Christmas Concert at St. John’s Church. 

The Christmas celebration included musical performances, as well as readings, and was opened by the school choir, accompanied by the audience, with a rendition of Once in Royal David’s City. 

More festive songs followed included We Three Kings, Vois Sur Ton Chemin (Look to Your Path), Merry Christmas Everyone and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The audience enjoyed joining in with more carols including O Little Town of Bethlehem and O Come All Ye Faithful.

  

Students stepped up to the stage to perform incredible solos and vocal duets including Hallelujah by Jud and Callumn, Year 11, Blackbird by Jasper, Year 9, and Somewhere Only We Know by Oliver, Year 7. 

Maxwell, in Year 8, played ‘Minuet in C’ on the piano, and we also heard readings from members of our Student Leadership team Theo, Calvin and Bradley.

Thanks to Rev Debra Blair and Rev Rodney Green for their Christmas message, to Mrs Quigley, Teacher of Music, and Mrs O’Neill, Assistant Principal for organising, and to Mrs Cheung and Mr Sharrock for providing musical support. 

The evening ended with everyone gathering for festive refreshments of hot drinks and mince pies in the church hall!

The concert was repeated for Year 7 students on Wednesday 18th December, an annual tradition which invites the year group to share in the Christmas celebrations!
