GCSE Drama Students Visit UCEN Manchester

As part of Wellacre’s Careers Month, Year 10 GCSE Drama students visited UCEN Manchester for an Audition Masterclass on 5th March 2024. 

The aim of the Audition Masterclass is to help guarantee students the best chance of success at an audition. 

Hosted in UCEN Manchester’s brand new campus and theatre space and supported by current Acting students at the Arden School of Theatre, this workshop gave students practical advice as to how to secure a place at a Drama School or Performing Arts degree course.

The day also included information on when to apply, what a typical audition day looks like, how to prepare for an audition, common mistakes that applicants make, and examples of good and bad audition practice. 

In the masterclass, one student asked:

“How do I apply here? I really want to be a student at the Arden School of Theatre!”

Students enjoyed a tour of the campus and spoke with Arden undergraduates throughout the day about university life in the School of Theatre.

Mrs Tickle, Teacher of Performing Arts, said:

“This was a really inspiring event for the students and left them all feeling like they had the potential to be future UCEN undergraduates! It has given them a confidence boost and prepared them for future auditions. I know many of them are keen to follow this pathway.”
