Students Perform at De Brook Lodge Carehome

Christmas spirit was all around as Year 11 Wellacre students visited the school’s local care home, De Brook Lodge to perform a Christmas concert for residents.

Due to the pandemic, these students were unable to take part in either Wellacre’s Christmas Carol Concert held at St John’s Church or the annual Christmas production.  Each year, Wellacre hosts a spectacular musical theatre show and in the last few years, students have performed in Oliver, We Will Rock You and The Wizard of Oz.

As it is our Year 11 students final year at high school, Jake, Tom. Joe and Sam welcomed an opportunity to perform one more time in the community and spread Christmas cheer!

De Brook Lodge were delighted to host Wellacre staff and students, who gathered in the care home’s grounds to sing some popular hits and Christmas songs.

Jake started the show with ‘All My Life’ by the Beatles, Tom sang ‘Here for Christmas’ by Lukas Graham, Joe performed ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi and Sam joined in with the group number ‘We Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard.

Mrs O’Neill, Leader of Humanities, said:

“I could not have been prouder of these boys and the show they put on outside De Brook Lodge; they spread a bit of Christmas joy for residents!”

Residents enjoyed the music from their windows, dancing along and waving to students! Staff also presented the group with chocolates, gifts and a card in thanks for their efforts.
