Annual MFL Christmas Card Competition

Students Celebrate Christmas Around the World

Wellacre’s annual Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) House Christmas Card competition encourages students to design a card, which celebrates Christmas traditions around the world. 

This year there were 42 entries from Pankhurst, 35 from Turing and 30 from Lowry! We are pleased to announce the winners:

* Overall Winner: Ollie P 7.4P

* Best Artists: Stanley O 7.1T and Mason R 7.4P

* Best Designers: Liam Knight 8.4P and Ryan W 7.4P

* Best Research: Will K 7.5L and Jacob M 7.1T

Winners were chosen for originality of design, reflection of their research and understanding in their designs and their skills as an artist.  Entries included Christmas cards from South Africa, France, Germany and Korea.

Mrs Horridge, Teacher of MFL, said:

“Our annual Christmas Card competition encourages students to look beyond their own understanding of Christmas and find out how it is celebrated elsewhere in the world.  

“It also allows students from differing backgrounds and with  home languages other than English to share their traditions with the school community. It was so difficult to judge this year with so many amazing designs. Well done to all our winners!”
