Success for Photographer Sean

Year 11 student and keen photographer Sean is inspired by his love of the rail industry and aims to capture images of iconic and historic trains.

Rail enthusiast Sean tours the country visiting stations and attending events which celebrate the best of the industry.

Most recently, he travelled to London Paddington station to photograph the last High Speed Train (HST) services, which will be replaced by newer models.

Sean produced a selection of images to honour the Class 43 model’s 43 years of service!

Sean said:

“These trains will now be sent to Hull Trains for a lease until their new trains are in operation; some will go up to Scotrail to help with there growing fleet and some are off for storage with some locomotives going to the National Railway Museum in York.”

It was a great opportunity to be part of the special event to celebrate more than 40 years of these trains. I wanted to use the vibrant colour splash style in the photographs because it celebrates the past and the present of the trains.”

His talent for photography has been spotted by a website specialising in rail photography, digital art and gifts.  GDMK Images contacted Sean to request the use of a quality image to be reproduced and sold.

He added:

“It was a really good feeling to have been contacted about one of my photos, I’ll gain publicity for my photography as well as a percentage of the money through its sales.”

Sean’s career plans have been inspired by his passion for trains, as well as his work as a BTEC Engineering, GCSE Computing and GCSE Photography student.

Following school, Sean is busy pursuing an opportunity to take a post at Northern Rail or an Engineering course at college.  We wish him all the very best!
