Year 7s Get Cooking in After School Club

It was the turn of Wellacre Year 7 students to take part in our after school Cooking Club, run by Miss Jones, Teacher of Food and Nutrition.

After six weeks of creating fun and challenging recipes, the club came to a close this week.  All the boys received a certificate of achievement for completing the course.

The aim of the Cooking Club was to develop students’ practical cookery skills and confidence in working independently in the kitchen.

Delicious dishes created included muffins, spicy beef fajitas, vegetable egg fried rice, sticky toffee pudding, potato and pea curry with rice, and noodle stir fry with chicken and vegetables.

In cooking up the variety of sweet and savory recipes, the students developed various skills including the rubbing-in method, weighing, measuring, sauce-making, shallow and stir frying, baking, tasting and seasoning.

Miss Jones said:

“Congratulations to all boys who took part and completed the course!”

Well done to Year 7 students Billy B, Jack, Niall, Harry, Billy R and Ellis.
