His success qualifies him for the UK National Championships in November 2019, again in Sheffield.

On Saturday, Jamie competed in a new division for the Manchester Tournament Team from GKR Club in Salford.

Jamie said:

“I’ve moved up to a new division now, competing against 14-17 year olds.  Everyone in this division was a black belt and so it was quite different and the hardest junior division to compete in; it was the most nervous I’ve been.”

However, Jamie’s training and determination paid off and he was awarded four Gold medals:

Gold - individual Kata, Gold - individual Kumite, Gold - team Kata and Gold - team Kumite.

He added:

“The competition went really well and I was really pleased to win all my rounds in kata and kumite!”

As part of his team, Jamie’s club took home 18 gold medals, 7 silvers and 2 bronzes.  They made their Sensei extremely proud.

Since December 2018, Jamie has been working towards his black belt (shodan-ho) and successfully achieved this grading in July 2019.

Wellacre was proud to welcome Jamie to Wellacre’s Annual Awards Evening in July 2019 to present him with the Outstanding Achievement in Sport Award for his dedication to the sport of karate.  His skills have secured him accolades in both national and international competitions and he treated the audience to an energetic demonstration of his world-class skills on stage.
