Uniform Expectations

We hope that all students feel a sense of pride in belonging to our academy. We see the wearing of uniform as a positive statement by each student of wishing to be part of Wellacre. For this reason, and also to ensure equality of opportunity, the academy insists that full uniform must be worn.

The uniform consists of:

• A blue blazer with red crest
• Blue V necked with grey stripe Wellacre jumper
• Wellacre Academy tie - KS3 and KS4
• A dark waterproof coat
• Dark grey trousers
• Plain white shirt
• Black shoes (no trainers, canvas shoes, boots or shoes with white stripes or trainer soles)
• Sensible hair cut and colour

The PE kit consists of:

• Royal blue Wellacre t-shirt
• Royal blue Wellacre shorts
• Royal blue Wellacre socks
• A dark blue Wellacre fleece for colder days (optional)
• Trainers/Football boots

The following items are banned:

• Sports tops, hooded tops and any other garment that is in addition to the Wellacre uniform
• Trainers except for wearing during PE lessons. Students wearing trainers should be told to change back into shoes immediately

PE Kit:

PE kit must be brought on all days when timetabled for PE. If a student is injured or ill then they are expected to bring their PE kit and a note from home detailing the injury/illness. Pupils will be expected to change into PE kit and assist in the lesson, they can still access the learning without taking part in the physical aspects that may affect the injury. At no point will pupils be forced to take part when injured but if they fail to bring PE kit then they will receive sanctions as per departmental policy. By changing into PE kit their uniform will be protected from the inclement weather.

Marking Of Clothing:

Every year scores of items of clothing without a name on them are lost in the academy. We try to trace the owners but many garments remain unclaimed. It is essential that all items of clothing, football boots and even trainers, should all be clearly marked with the owner’s name. Lost property is kept adjacent to reception in the main foyer.
