WELLACRE - Library celebrates arrival of new books for 2017 with a Winter Book Competition.

WELLACRE Library and English Department helped to inspire reading for independent learning and enjoyment with a Winter Book Competition, whilst celebrating the arrival of our new selection of books for 2017.

During our Winter term Ms. B. Warren, Teacher of English, with support from our English Department introduced a book competition to inspire and promote reading for pleasure. Our students were given the freedom to select books on any topic that they would like to receive for Christmas. There was no stipulation on subject or author and we received a wide variety of requests, ranging from fiction to nonfiction, classic and modern books written by authors such as David Walliams, J.D. Salinger and even You Tube stars!

A winner was selected at random from each year group to receive the book of their choice as an extra Christmas surprise, with all of our students choices displayed in the library, creating a wide list of new and exciting books to read!

Staff were also happy to get involved with their own selections displayed throughout their classrooms, helping to encourage conversation and stimulate further discussion around reading and literacy.

After the incredible success of our Winter Book Competition, WELLACRE will run more reading competitions during both Spring and Summer Terms.
