CCF HMS RALEIGH TRIP

This term, 20 CCF cadets deployed to HMS Raleigh in Plymouth, a Navy Establishment in which all personnel who join the Navy conduct their basic training. The CCF spent three fantastic days with CPO Urie and other members of the Royal Navy alongside other contingents of the CCF from different schools.

The Cadets visited the Royal Navy Heritage Museum, learning the history of the Royal Navy. They also conducted a variety of activities such as: Obstacle Course, Assault Course, Fire Fighting and DRIU (Damage Repair Instruction Unit), where the Cadets got to experience damage control on a ship. They even embraced the soaking!

Alfie (Year 8) remarked, “I loved the whole experience. Spending three days with the Royal Navy was fantastic, especially the DRIU! Thank you to SSI Ward and SLT Harvey for leading the trip!’

Mrs Sharrock, Principal, commented ‘The experience is invaluable for our Cadets. Whilst they enjoyed the planned activities, they also learned valuable skills around leadership, organisation, timekeeping and strategic planning.’ 

There are CCF contingents in over 500 secondary schools all over the UK, offering young people a broad range of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities.
