Wellacre has been awarded both the ‘Supportive Governors and Parents’ and ‘Pastoral Support’ awards by The Proud Trust.

These are two of the six areas required to achieve the full Rainbow Flag Award; presented to Wellacre due to all the hard work and commitment from staff and students towards achieving the full award.

Rachel, The Rainbow Flag Award representative, said:

“We have been thrilled with the level of commitment and dedication that has been demonstrated on your way to gaining this award and in doing so creating safer schools.  The final push will be worth it, we really hope to be able to celebrate your hard work by presenting your school with the full Rainbow Flag Award.”

The Rainbow Flag Award is a quality assurance framework for all schools and colleges, focusing on LGBT+, (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), inclusion and visibility.

The award encourages a whole organisation approach to LGBT+  inclusion, as well as developing strategies to combat homophobic, biphobic and transphobic, (HBT), bullying.

Co-ordinating the work towards The Rainbow Flag Award, Mr Panter, Pastoral Assistant, said:

“Staff and students have  gone above and beyond in working towards this award, providing evidence, and  showing a fantastic commitment to improving the lives of all the students at Wellacre.”
