The Scholars Club Graduation at the University of Manchester

Fourteen ambitious students from Years 7 and 8 proudly graduated from the Brilliant Club after months of dedicated study on their university‑level course, Understanding American History through Music. Their hard work culminated in the completion of a 1500‑word essay an impressive achievement for students still in Key Stage 3.

The celebration day at the University of Manchester offered a real taste of higher education. Students enjoyed a guided campus tour, took part in a Q&A with current undergraduates, and attended their official graduation ceremony, where they received certificates including their essay grades.

Year 8 student Oliver Woodward reflected on the experience, saying: “The Brilliant Club was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the impact of history and conflict on music and lyrics. Attending the graduation was interesting as we could ask questions about what life is like for students and what degrees are available.”

Miss Morley accompanied the group and praised the students’ determination and maturity. 'Writing a university‑style essay was initially daunting for many, but every student showed resilience and produced a thoughtful, well‑crafted piece of work. The programme has strengthened their critical thinking and analysis skills, giving them a valuable insight into academic study beyond school.'

Watching the students graduate at such a prestigious institution was a proud moment for all involved. Their commitment over the past few months has been outstanding, and the experience has been both enriching and inspiring.
