Nutrition is key to successful learning
Wellacre’s catering team adapt the menu termly to create a nutritious and balanced offer. The menu includes a wealth of choice with old favorites, as well as new ranges to try.
We have introduced Meatless Monday, which encourages students and staff to reduce the amount of meat they eat to make a difference to their physical health and the health of the planet.
The new menu is fully compliant and allows for a range of dietary needs and student choice. Wellacre students will continue to have access to free vegetables and salad.
We work hard to support Wellacre's sustainability targets (see more information here.) This year we have replaced plastic bottles with recyclable packaging, soup and pasta pots are all biodegradable and disposal products are kept to a minimum.
There are hot meals available every day including a vegetarian option. Pasta pots, curry pots and individual pizzas will also be a daily choice, alongside a wide selection of sandwiches, fruit pots and home bakes. Every month there is a theme day when the canteen staff will create a culinary delight in celebration of that day.
Wellacre's School Council works with staff to represent their peers’ views on the catering provision.
The school canteen at Wellacre was awarded a ‘five’ food hygiene rating at it's most recent inspection.
