Riverside trip for KS4 Students

In the summer term, KS4 GCSE Geography students travelled to the Peak District for an in-depth field study.

Students were tasked with exploring how the River Crowden changes as it moves further downstream, making detailed observations and notations during the day’s work to bring back to the classroom as part of their GCSE studies.

Field tasks included measuring various characteristics including depth, width, velocity, gradient and bedload of the River Crowden.

Students got stuck in and really enjoyed the ‘muddy, messy’ fieldwork and comments included:

“Going into the 'wild' helped me fully understand the learning from the classroom”

“This field trip experience brought Geography to life”
