Junior Chef Academy

Well done to four Wellacre students who have been cultivating their culinary skills at the Junior Chef Academy at Trafford College.

Sean O'Driscoll, Year 11, Chris Pears, Year 10, and Daniel Rimmer and Leo Pettecrew, Year 9, have spent the last few months attended the academy.

Student Daniel Rimmer said:

"The course has been ace; I have really enjoyed it."

The students have been polishing up their practical cookery skills and perfecting their presentation techniques making, amongst other things, profiteroles, crispy wonton, steamed dumplings, fish and chips, millefeuille and ravioli.

Sam Elliott, the professional chef working with the boys said:

"The Wellacre boys have done so well in their time at the Junior Chef Academy; I'm really proud of them."

Miss Jones, Teacher of Food and Nutrition, and Miss Haymes, Teaching Assistant, attended the graduation event along with the students’ families.

Miss Jones said:

“It was a pleasure to sample some delightful food and see the boys graduate from the course.  It has been a fantastic experience for our students, especially for Sean who is hoping to pursue a career in the catering industry after he leaves Wellacre this summer.”
