The Mayor of Trafford was in attendance and the event saw a great number of visitors.

Wellacre Academy students, alongside Teacher of Science Mr Asha, presented their award-winning garden design from a recent RHS Green Plan-it competition.

Also in attendance were St Monica's Primary School, who were recognised for their part in creating the Urmston in Bloom logo, as well as the Friends of Davyhulme Park.

Urmston in Bloom said:

“The presence of the Mayor of Trafford made a positive difference to everyone’s enjoyment!  He recognised all achievements and unveiled a sculpture in the park donated by United Utilities. ”

Groundwork offered a practical volunteering session on the day and volunteers helped rejuvenate an area of the park under their supervision.

On twitter, Wellare parent Mrs Hynes said:

“So proud of our Joseph and @WellacreAcademy for winning the national award from the @The_RHS for their model garden design. Thank you to Mayor @CllrJRCoupe and The Urmston partnership for organising Urmston in Bloom launch.”
