Year 7 Transition 2026
Welcome to all our new students and their families

We appreciate that the transition from primary to secondary school can be daunting for some. However, we have every confidence that our new starters will settle into new routines quickly. Last year our new students and their families were overwhelmingly positive about the strength of our Transition process.
Feedback from Y7 Parents’ Evening demonstrated very high levels of satisfaction:
* 98% of parents and carers agreed that their son was happy and had settled in well
* 100% of parents and carers agreed that their son felt safe at Wellacre
* 100% of parents and carers agreed that the transition process prepared their son well for Year 7
* 100% of parents and carers agreed Wellacre was meeting their expectations (with 42% stating we were exceeding expectations.)
Comments included:
"Great start to the year, we feel well informed and if we do have any issues then we know who to contact. Everyone has been so helpful. Thank you."
"Happy we made the right choice of school. Thank you for helping my son settle in so well."
"I think the school has done a great job in making my son feel welcome and safe. I really appreciate all your efforts on this. Thank you."
"You have all made my son feel safe, secure and very happy to come to school."
Principal, Mrs Sharrock, and the whole Wellacre community are looking forward to welcoming all our new starters to the Wellacre family.

The Achievement Tutor will be your first point of contact for anything that students or their parents/carers need to discuss. There is a Tutor Time every morning.
Each Tutor group belongs to a House: Turing (Green), Pankhurst (Purple) and Lowry (Yellow).
The Heads of House have oversight of students' pastoral and personal development.
Opportunities as a Year 7 Student
As a Year 7, we hope students find their time at Wellacre valuable, enjoyable and rewarding. We provide a wealth of opportunities for students to embrace in order to enrich their learning and encourage them to develop skills and experiences both in and outside of school.
Our Co Curricular Wednesday afternoon will be their first opportunity to broaden their skills and experiences. Our vision is to provide successful and meaningful opportunities for ALL students that;
* Enhance ‘cultural capital’
* Contribute to our local community
* Develop skills or knowledge beyond the taught curriculum
Our new Year 7 students will work in vertical groups across school, but within Houses, on three core themes for the year:
* Community
* Culture and the Arts
* Wellbeing
