Learning Support and Inclusion (SEN)
Our Learning Support Department and our Inclusion Centre are overseen by our Assistant principal for Safeguarding and Inclusion and Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENDCo) Mrs M Critchlow (). The Assistant SENDCo is Mrs J Potts () who leads on all Annual reviews and Applications for students with an Education Health Care Plan or Exam Access Arrangements. Miss N McGuire () is our Inclusion Manager and leads on interventions and provision within the Inclusion Centre.
We have a team of 7 Teaching Assistants, who support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in lessons and also in our before and after school provisions. We run a variety of clubs and intervention programmes including 'Scribble Scrabble' for handwriting and spelling skills; 'Number Crunch' for numeracy skills; breakfast club to provide nurture before school and homework club after school to give students support with study skills.
"The achievement of disabled students and those who have special educational needs is good. Their needs are being met well through careful consideration of the subjects they take and the intervention programmes used where underachievement is apparent." (Ofsted 2015)
