At the recent regional competition he took two gold medals - one for Kata (a routine of moves) and the other for Kumite (non-contact fighting).

Due to his outstanding success, Jamie has now qualified for the UK National Championships in Sheffield in November.  There is an opportunity for those that place in the top four to qualify for the World Cup in Milton Keynes next year.

Jamie has been a member for the GKR (Go-Kan -Ryu) Club in Irlam for last past five years, and also trains in Salford at a Seniors black and brown belt session with the aim of achieving a second black tip on his belt very soon.

Jamie said:

“My family have all supported me; they really like coming to watch me every time I compete.  Karate is a great way to meet new people and learn a new sport. I enjoy learning about defence and mastering new moves.”
