On 17th December, students, parents, staff and the local community joined together for Wellacre’s Christmas Carol Concert.

Hosted by Rev. Rodney Green and St. John’s Church and supported by the Davyhulme Scout and Guides band, the event saw the Wellacre choir and musicians perform.

The evening of festive carols, musical duets, soloists and readings was organised by Ms Spencer, SENDCo/Teacher of Music, and Mrs O’Neill, Leader of Humanities.

To top off the performances, we welcomed local singer and former student, Wayne Devlin, who returned to perform ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”

On social media, Wayne commented:

“I’ve finished my last Christmas performance of the year at St John's Church, in Flixton, for my old school, Wellacre Academy, where they put on a fantastic Christmas Concert. The lads were brilliant; there was some great musical talent on display! They are a credit to Wellacre. Thanks for inviting me to sing.”

Following the concert, the Christmas spirit continued with the Friends of Wellacre refreshments and raffle.  We are delighted to report that their efforts at both the carol concert and at the Christmas production of ‘We Will Rock You’, as well as the most recent bag drop, have raised a grand total of £456.40 this term! Many thanks to parents, staff and local businesses who support fundraising for the school.
