Ryan Returns to Wellacre

Work experience for former student

Former Wellacre student Ryan has returned to Wellacre to gain work experience in the Science department.

Star student Ryan celebrated outstanding GCSE results in August 2017 with top marks In Maths (9),  English Literature (9), Biology (A), Chemistry (A) and Physics (A). He successfully moved on to study A level Chemistry, Physics and Maths and AS level Further Maths at Urmston Grammar.

Ryan said:

“I’m interested in career in Physics, whether in education or in research, so I’m using the opportunity to return to Wellacre as experience in the industry.  I’m currently looking at a Physics degrees, specialising in astrophysics, and am keen on Manchester University.”

Inspired by his time at Wellacre, Ryan contacted Miss Wicks to ask for work experience in the Science department.

Ryan has been working as a Science Technician alongside the Science team throughout the Summer term.  During his weekly visits, Ryan’s responsibilities have included setting up experiments, servicing science equipment and helping in lessons.

Principal Miss Wicks has been delighted to welcome Ryan back for the work placement and has even invited him to teach one of her Year 7 or 8 Science lessons.

Ryan added:

“It’s been great coming back to Wellacre and working alongside teachers who I really enjoyed being taught by when I was a student here!”
