Each school was allowed to enter a team of four students.  Wellacre’s team consisted of students Anton Anderson, Joshua-Lee Walsh, Oliver Pagan and Bailey Crolla.

The exciting Maths competition combined mathematical, communication and teamwork skills and offered students an alternative way of expressing and developing their enjoyment of mathematics.

Mrs Eagling, Assistant Leader of Maths, said:

“Wellacre’s team competed really well and managed to solve some very difficult problems.  They were commended for and won a certificate and prize for demonstrating the best teamwork”

Joshua-Lee added:

“We really enjoyed the event. It was very challenging but rewarding when we solved the problems.”

The competition is organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme and challenges teams of Year 10 students to work together on a series of mathematical problems.  On the day there are several rounds requiring different skills and strategies for success. All materials were made available for schools to take back with them to enrich and extend learning in classes.
