Students take to the road in French lessons

In celebration of the Tour de France, Key Stage 3 students studied the cycling competition in French lessons in the summer term.

At Wellacre, learning a foreign language is much more than learning the language itself.  We bring the language to life in lessons by encouraging students to immerse themselves in the culture.

Miss Bailey, Leader of Modern Foreign Languages, said:

“Students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the competition and following the progress in lessons.  It was fantastic to hear about them continuing to watch this at home and sharing their knowledge with family and friends.”

In lessons, students produced newspaper articles, which incorporated all of the fun facts and information they learned about the Tour.

Joe H said:

“J’adore Le Tour de France parce que c’est intéressant et exaltant.”

("I love Le Tour de France because it's interesting and exhilarating.")

Joe L said:

“Watching the Tour de France and learning about it in French lessons is inspiring, it makes you want to ride a bike as it's a fun competition.”

Matthew added:

“C’est intéressant parceque j’aime faire du vélo.”

("It's interesting because I like riding a bike.")
