Year 7 Castle Competition

Wellacre’s annual castle project has inspired Year 7 to research, design and build a range of fantastic medieval forts!

The independent study project tasked students to carry out research and create a 3D model demonstrating their learning.  Some students opted for conventional craft materials, whilst others turned to computer programmes to showcase their designs online.

In History lessons this term, students have been learning about different styles of castles and the purposes of its architectural features for defense and living.

The homework project supported and enhanced students’ learning but also developed independent work and study skills.

Outstanding castle designs were shortlisted by the Humanities department for judging by Principal, Miss Wicks.
