Year 9 Masterchef

Wellacre’s co-curricular Year 9 Masterchef competition came to a tasty end in December, with a range of delicious dishes prepared over the course of the term.

The students involved enjoyed developing their food skills and had much fun over the 12 sessions.  We are pleased to announce the winners were:

1st place - Daniel (Lowry)

2nd place - Ben (Lowry) and Alex (Lowry)

3rd place - Daniel ( Pankhurst)

The boys were challenged throughout the co-curricular programme and competed against each other in making dishes including apple crumble, spiced apple cupcakes,  soup and loaded potato skins.

During the final competition heats, they were challenged to prepare and cook a savoury dish from scratch, and also design and bake a Christmas cake.

All our winners were presented with a certificate and an engraved spatula, and won points for their house.  First place winner, Daniel, also received a Wellacre Masterchef embroidered apron. Well done Daniel.

Mrs Jones, Teacher of Food and Nutrition, said:

“It was a very tight competition with extremely high standards.  Each week the boys were scored and their average score informed the league table.  Well done to our very worthy winners. This half term we are running Year 8 Masterchef so watch this space!!”
